Patagonia faces unusually cold July weather with snow forecast

A cold front is affecting Patagonia in early July 2026. In Torres del Paine, Chile, temperatures are expected to remain well below freezing, with daytime highs around 1 °C and lows down to –6 °C, clear skies and light winds. No precipitation is forecast for Thursday, but the extended outlook predicts the possibility of rain on Sunday.

In Punta Arenas, the city recorded its coldest day of the year so far, with a minimum of –3.4 °C. Meteorologists say high‑pressure systems are keeping winds light and anticipate further temperature drops, potentially reaching –4 °C on Monday and a chance of 1–2 cm of snowfall over the weekend. The forecast suggests that the cold could intensify, with temperatures possibly falling to –7.2 °C by 18 July.
