Patagonian provinces lead Argentina in exports per capita

Three Argentine provinces in Patagonia—Santa Cruz, Chubut, and Neuquén—are leading the nation in exports per capita. In 2025, Santa Cruz recorded USD 8,816 per inhabitant, followed by Chubut at USD 6,583 and Neuquén at USD 6,460. These figures exceeded the 2025 per capita export values of developed economies such as the United States (USD 6,441), Japan (USD 5,900), and New Zealand (USD 6,650).

This trend accelerated during the first seven months of 2026. According to data from Politikon Chaco, Neuquén reached USD 7,412 per inhabitant and Santa Cruz reached USD 7,225 in that period. Both provinces surpassed the total annual 2025 per capita export levels of the United States, Japan, and New Zealand in just seven months.

Year-on-year growth has been significant: Neuquén's exports rose 51.8% between January and July 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, while Santa Cruz saw a 77.1% increase. Chubut also maintained strong performance, reaching USD 3,460 per inhabitant with a 54.9% interannual increase during the same seven-month window.
