Patek Philippe unveils Grand Complications 5178G-012

Patek Philippe has introduced the Grand Complications 5178G-012, a new minute repeater crafted in white gold. The timepiece features a self-winding R 27 PS caliber equipped with two cathedral gongs, which are designed to produce a deeper and more resonant chime than traditional gongs.

The watch includes a hand-guilloched 18K gold dial plate covered with midnight blue Grand Feu enamel using the flinqué technique. It is presented with two alligator leather straps: a peacock blue strap and an additional orange strap, both featuring white gold fold-over clasps.

This release follows a long history of complex horology for the brand, dating back to 1941 when Patek Philippe was the first to mass-market a watch combining a perpetual calendar and a chronograph, such as the rare Ref. 1518.
