Pathologists' Association seeks strict rules for unscientific medical practices

The Professional Association of Pathologists of Greece (EEPE) is calling for the immediate establishment of a strict institutional framework to regulate activities and practices that lack international scientific documentation. The association emphasizes that citizen protection must be a state priority, following revelations regarding inadequate licensing and oversight mechanisms for facilities advertising services using “imaginative biomedical terms.”

The EEPE asserts that a therapeutic method is only acceptable when it possesses sufficient scientific evidence regarding both safety and effectiveness. They warn that so-called “alternative therapies” are not recognized medical specialties and must not be presented as medical acts.

Specific concerns were raised regarding unregulated internet advertising for methods such as “biosynchronization” and “quantum” applications. The association notes that these services are often provided by individuals using fraudulent titles rather than recognized medical expertise. Furthermore, the EEPE is seeking increased oversight from the Ministry of Health, the Hellenic Medical Association, and local medical associations to protect the public from the commercial promotion of unverified products, including certain herbs, ointments, and unsubstantiated “nanotechnology” products.
