Pati religious school caretaker surrenders following abuse allegations

A religious school caretaker, identified by the initials MKA (or KA), has surrendered to the Pati Police after being named a suspect in a child sexual abuse case. The alleged incidents occurred at a religious educational institution in Talun Village, Kayen District, between July and August 2026.

The suspect, a prominent local figure who held several community positions including village-level leadership and cooperative chairmanship, surrendered to avoid vigilante justice following intense public anger. Hundreds of residents had previously stormed and sealed the pesantren (Islamic boarding school) after news of the abuse spread.

Police investigators have confirmed that the alleged abuse was committed repeatedly. The suspect has since resigned from his various community roles. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of the crimes and determine if there are additional victims.
