Patience Ozokwor advises parents against over-pampering children

Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwor, widely known as Mama G, has advised parents against over-pampering their children to prevent them from becoming entitled and unprepared for life. Speaking on the topics of parenting and wealth, Ozokwor cautioned that shielding children from all forms of hardship can hinder their development of resilience.

Ozokwor emphasized the distinction between causing suffering and allowing children to struggle. She stated, “I’m not saying allow them to suffer, what I’m saying is allow them to struggle. Go through the process.” She noted that children raised in extreme comfort without understanding the sacrifices required to acquire wealth may fail to appreciate their privileges and could eventually conflict over family properties.

To instill responsibility, the actress shared that she informed her own son that her house was not his and encouraged him to work for his own assets. She argued that teaching children the value of hard work through manageable challenges is essential for their future success.
