Patient experience with anti-obesity medication and eating disorders
A 46-year-old woman from Haute-Savoie shared her journey managing lifelong weight struggles and hyperphagia, a condition involving the consumption of large quantities of food. After decades of unsuccessful dieting and weight cycling, she sought psychological support to address her eating disorders.
Following guidance from her psychologist, she eventually pursued anti-obesity medication. She noted that she initially felt shame and a fear of judgment from her regular physician, fearing her choice would be viewed as a ‘solution of ease’ or met with fatphobia. To avoid these social stigmas, she opted for an online medical consultation to receive a prescription after undergoing necessary blood tests and examinations.
