Patimban Terminal begins container service using Liebherr crane

Liebherr has supplied a mobile harbour crane, model LHM 550, to the Patimban Global Gateway Terminal in Indonesia, allowing the facility to start container operations while permanent ship‑to‑shore equipment is introduced in stages. The crane, with a 54‑metre outreach and flexible working ranges, can adapt to changing berth layouts and handle a range of vessel sizes. Delivery was completed within three months and includes on‑site commissioning, operator training, long‑term service support and an extended warranty.

The terminal is operated by a consortium comprising Africa Global Logistics (part of MSC Group), Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Samudera Group. It is intended to ease congestion at Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok port and to support growing domestic container and general cargo traffic, with a capacity target of several million TEU by 2026. A terminal representative said, “Starting operations with equipment that can adapt as the terminal grows was essential for us.”
