Patna hosts massive Ravan Dahan ceremony at Gandhi Maidan

A grand Ravan Dahan ceremony was held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Bihar, to mark the occasion of Vijayadashami. The event featured the burning of a 90-foot effigy of Ravan, alongside 80-foot and 85-foot effigies of Kumbhakarna and Meghnad, respectively.

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary performed the symbolic ritual by firing an arrow to initiate the burning. The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including Governor Syed Ata Hasnain and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary. The festivities included a tableau of Lord Ram and Lakshman, accompanied by a vanar sena procession, and a symbolic burning of the golden Lanka by Hanuman.

Approximately 250,000 people gathered to witness the event, which featured elaborate special effects such as embers emitting from the effigy's eyes, flames from its mouth, and colored smoke. The sky was illuminated by extensive fireworks and light shows as the crowd celebrated the victory of good over evil.
