Patna: Jan Suraaj Party leader shot in targeted basement attack

Anil Kumar Yadav, a leader of the Jan Suraaj Party and husband of Ward 24 Councilor Gyanvati Devi, was critically injured in a daylight shooting in the Buddha Colony area of Patna on Wednesday evening.

According to CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, three assailants arrived on a motorcycle at the Sukhia Mahal Apartment. Two shooters entered the basement where Yadav was seated in his office and opened fire at close range. A personal guard present at the scene attempted to defend Yadav by throwing a chair at the attackers before they fled the scene while brandishing weapons.

Yadav was rushed to Udayan Hospital and later transferred to Medanta Hospital for advanced treatment. This attack follows the recent murder of Yadav’s son, and police are investigating a potential connection between the two incidents.

Political figures, including Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, visited the hospital to meet with the family. Kishor criticized the state government, stating that the law and order situation in Bihar has collapsed.
