Patna job aspirants protest over TRE-4 and Group D recruitment

Job aspirants for the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4) and Group D positions held protests in Patna on Tuesday regarding various recruitment demands.

TRE-4 candidates gathered near the residence of Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari. They are requesting that individuals appearing for the CTET 2026 examination be permitted to participate in the BPSC TRE-4 recruitment process, seeking parity with candidates appearing for the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET).

Simultaneously, Group D candidates marched from Gandhi Maidan toward the Chief Minister's residence. Police utilized barricades to halt the march near JP Golambar, leading approximately 500 protesters to begin a sit-in demonstration. Some demonstrators reported having been protesting at Gardanibagh for roughly 30 days.

Group D protesters raised concerns regarding long-pending appointments and the difficulty level of examinations. One candidate noted that while the recruitment was intended for those with matriculation or Class 8 qualifications, the exam questions were significantly more difficult. Another participant stated that 9,720 candidates who applied in 2023 and tested in 2024 are still awaiting appointments.
