Patna reports two violent shootings including fatal murder and attempted robbery

Two separate violent incidents were reported in Patna on August 15.

In Shahpur village, a 26-year-old man identified as Veeru Kumar was shot dead. According to family members, Kumar was allegedly taken by acquaintances under the guise of participating in a flag-hoisting program before being shot in the head. Police are investigating a possible motive involving a prior financial dispute between the deceased and the suspects, who were reportedly known to each other.

In a separate incident in the Kankarbagh area, a jewellery shop owner, Deepak Kumar, was shot in the abdomen while resisting an armed intruder. The intruder allegedly entered the premises through a rear gate late Friday night. During the struggle, the assailant fired a shot at the owner and his wife before fleeing on a motorcycle. Police recovered a discarded pistol and cartridges from the scene and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
