Patna shooting kills PACS president and injures block chief's husband
A Primary Agriculture Credit Society (PACS) president was shot dead and the husband of a local block chief was critically injured during a targeted attack in Byapur village, near Patna, Bihar.
On Sunday night, four unidentified assailants on two motorcycles arrived at the residence of Sanjit Kumar, also known as Bhalu. The attackers opened fire on the men as they sat in a courtyard. Sanjit Kumar was shot in the chest and later died while receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Danapur. Pintu Kumar, the husband of Maner block chief Rinki Devi, was shot in the thigh while attempting to intervene and remains in critical condition.
Danapur DSP-2 Amarendra Kumar Jha stated that preliminary investigations suggest the attack may be linked to longstanding enmity and electoral rivalry. Police and forensic teams have collected evidence from the scene and are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the suspects and their escape route.
