Patna students detained during protests over Bihar exam irregularities
Job aspirants in Patna, Bihar, staged protests on Tuesday demanding the cancellation and re-conduct of the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examination and the recruitment test for 1,799 sub-inspector posts. The protesters allege irregularities and paper leaks in both examinations.
Demonstrators marched from Gandhi Maidan toward the chief minister’s residence but were intercepted by police at JP Golambar. Some protesters breached barricades, took unauthorized routes, and attempted to block railway tracks. The resulting unrest led to the detention of several individuals.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikey Kumar Sharma stated that the protests disrupted public movement and essential services, noting that ambulances and school buses were affected. Authorities have since restored normal traffic flow and urged students to voice their concerns at designated protest sites rather than in prohibited areas.
