Patna's Chandni Market warehouse fire destroys electrical goods

A major fire broke out on Friday afternoon at a warehouse in the Chandni Market electronics area near Patna Junction. The blaze originated in a storage area on the upper floors of the ‘Super Light’ shop, where a large quantity of electrical goods, including chandeliers and PVC lights, was being stored ahead of the upcoming festive season.

Firefighters faced challenges due to the narrow lanes of the market, requiring the use of long hoses to reach the warehouse. Approximately 15 fire tenders were deployed to the scene. Patna District Fire Officer Abhishek Kumar reported that the fire was brought 90% under control, though hotspots remained in the lower layers of the storage area.

Local residents suggested the fire may have been caused by sparks from welding work being performed during ongoing construction at the warehouse, though an official cause has not yet been confirmed. While the fire destroyed a substantial portion of the stored stock, there have been no immediate reports of casualties.
