Patnos municipality grapples with litter despite empty bins
In the Patnos district of Ağrı, Turkey, residents have been leaving household waste on sidewalks and road edges around empty trash containers in Yunus Emre Mahallesi. The practice has drawn public criticism and concerns over environmental health, even as the municipal cleaning department continues regular collection according to schedule.
Mayor Abdulhalık Taşkın has highlighted recent municipal initiatives, including the planting of roughly 40,000 trees of 15 different species and ongoing road, infrastructure and park improvements. He urged citizens to act responsibly, noting that the littering appears to be a deliberate disregard for the clean‑up efforts rather than accidental neglect.
