Pato Branco: Mason killed by coworker during dispute

A 50-year-old mason, Vanderlei Oss Emer, was killed by a coworker during a dispute at a construction site in the São Francisco neighborhood of Pato Branco, Paraná, on Wednesday morning.

The victim sustained knife wounds to the chest and neck. Although he attempted to flee the scene, he collapsed and died before medical assistance arrived.

According to the Civil Police, the incident stemmed from a family conflict, as the suspect has a daughter with the victim's stepdaughter. The men had reportedly argued the previous day and resumed their dispute while working.

The suspect turned himself in to the police later that day accompanied by a lawyer and surrendered the weapon. During interrogation, the man confessed to the attack but claimed he acted in self-defense. An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the homicide.
