Phuket experiences flash floods and mudslides in Patong
Heavy rainfall in Phuket, Thailand, triggered flash floods and mudslides between October 25 and 26, causing significant damage to homes, businesses, and vehicles. The most severe impact was reported in the Patong and Kamala districts, where mud and rocks from mountains flowed into residential and commercial areas, including Soi Na In.
Flooding reached depths of 30 to 50 centimeters in several streets, making travel difficult for small vehicles and blocking certain routes entirely. Local authorities, including Phuket provincial officials and the Patong Municipality, have deployed heavy machinery to clear debris and restore drainage.
Emergency response measures include the activation of three temporary shelters at the Patong Municipality office, Wat Suwan Khiri Wong School, and the Patong Bay Hill Hotel. Additionally, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation issued emergency warnings via Cell Broadcast to alert residents of ongoing risks of sudden flooding and landslides.
