Patra architects demand action against election poster pollution
The Association of Architects of Achaia (SANA) has called for urgent intervention to protect the public spaces and historical center of Patra from visual pollution caused by election posters and banners.
The association expressed strong opposition to the uncontrolled placement of campaign materials, noting that these advertisements are being installed in architecturally sensitive areas and the city's traditional center. SANA highlighted the irony of political candidates, who seek to govern and legislate, being the ones to violate laws regarding urban aesthetics.
To address this, the association is requesting coordinated action from several authorities, including the Municipality of Patra, the Urban Planning Department, the Ephorate of Antiquities, the Service of Modern Monuments, and the Hellenic Police. They propose that political parties and candidates be formally informed of their obligations and that authorities enforce the removal of unauthorized materials and impose necessary fines where violations occur.
