Patra: Car crashes into house courtyard and catches fire

In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a car driven by a man approximately 50 years old veered off course in the Ovrya district of Patra, Greece. The vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed into a residential courtyard near the intersection of Ileias and Dimokratias streets, striking a garage and a lighting pole.

Shortly after the collision, the vehicle caught fire. A bystander intervened to help the driver exit the car before the flames spread. While the driver reportedly did not sustain serious injuries, he fled the scene immediately following his rescue. Two fire department vehicles responded to the incident and successfully extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading to the nearby house. Authorities are investigating the exact causes of the accident.
