Patras celebrates 62nd anniversary of Saint Andrew's relics repatriation
The city of Patras, Greece, held celebrations to mark the 62nd anniversary of the repatriation of the Holy Relics of Saint Andrew from Rome. The commemorative events included a multi-hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the New Holy Temple of Saint Andrew and a sacred procession.
The religious ceremonies featured a maritime transfer where the procession moved toward the pier of Saint Nicholas, followed by a doxology at Three Allies Square. A notable guest at the celebrations was Archbishop Cyprianos of Buzău and Vrancea from the Romanian Patriarchate, who participated alongside various Greek metropolitans.
The anniversary honors the historic September 1964 event when the relics returned to the city where the Apostle Andrew taught and was martyred, an occasion described as a significant moment in the region's modern religious history.
