Patras: Child in stable condition after falling from balcony
A 2.5-year-old child is receiving medical treatment at the University Hospital of Patras after falling from a balcony approximately three meters high in the Patras Beach area. The child sustained a traumatic brain injury and is being monitored in the Neurosurgical Clinic.
Medical professionals report encouraging signs, noting that the child responds to stimuli, moves limbs, and cries. While the child is not in immediate danger to life, doctors are awaiting the results of an MRI to fully assess the extent of the injuries.
The accident occurred on a Monday morning while the child was visiting grandparents. The child's family resides in Athens. It is reported that an olive tree located directly beneath the balcony may have cushioned the fall, potentially preventing a more fatal outcome. The incident occurred while the child's mother was in the kitchen; the toddler reportedly went onto the balcony and fell while exploring the railings.
