Patras: Construction worker seriously injured at BIOMPETON site

A construction worker sustained serious head injuries on Saturday, September 19, at the BIOMPETON ready-mix concrete production site located in the Patras Industrial Area (VIPE). The incident reportedly occurred during maintenance work on machinery.

The injured worker was transported to the University General Hospital of Patras in Rio, where they remain hospitalized with serious injuries. Representatives from the Patras Builders and Related Professions Union were present at the hospital to support the worker and their family.

The Union has called for an immediate investigation by the Labor Inspection and EFKA to determine if safety protocols were followed and whether the worker's presence on-site on a Saturday was appropriate. The Union also raised broader concerns regarding labor conditions in the construction sector, citing issues such as excessive working hours and the need for mandatory collective bargaining agreements and improved safety oversight.
