Patras Forestry Service under investigation for alleged forest clearing

Authorities and legal representatives are investigating allegations of environmental misconduct in the Ano Ziria region. Giorgos Beskos, President of the Aigio Bar Association, has raised formal questions regarding the Patras Forestry Service concerning the alleged illegal clearing of approximately 14 acres of forest land.

The investigation focuses on the approval process for a wind turbine project. Allegations suggest that while environmental permits were modified to show a reduction in the affected area on paper, physical intervention and landscape alteration had already occurred. The Forestry Service has cited staffing shortages for delays in responding to these inquiries, though a criminal preliminary investigation is underway to determine if forestry laws were violated.
