Patras funeral held for woman killed in fatal highway collision

A funeral is being held in Patras for 46-year-old Eleni Bethoulka, who died following a fatal head-on collision on the Old National Road of Patras–Pyrgos in the Kato Achaia region.

The accident occurred on Friday, August 21, while Bethoulka was returning from work. Her vehicle collided with another car, causing her vehicle to veer off the road and catch fire, trapping her inside. The driver of the second vehicle sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Patras.

Following the incident, the Hellenic Police arrested the driver of the second vehicle on charges of manslaughter by negligence. An investigation by the Patras Traffic Department is ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
