Patras hosts breastfeeding festival to support maternal health

A breastfeeding festival was held on September 19, 2026, in Patras, Greece, at National Resistance Square. The event was organized by the Directorate of Social and Developmental Pediatrics of the Institute of Child Health, in collaboration with the 6th Health Region and the Municipality of Patras.

The festival aimed to inform citizens about health structures participating in a Joint European Action and to support breastfeeding mothers. Activities included creative workshops, theatrical performances, musical events by the ‘Anticho’ choirs, and yoga sessions for maternal wellness.

Informational sessions were provided for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their partners, covering topics such as nutrition and infant car safety. Local officials, including Mayor Peletidis, attended the event to express support for breastfeeding as a healthy foundation for life and to promote Patras as a breastfeeding-friendly community.
