Patras hosts school supply drive for students in need

The organization ‘Bright Star’ is organizing a three-day solidarity event in Patras, Greece, titled ‘Saying Goodbye to Summer: A New School Year with Smiles!’. The initiative will take place from September 1 to September 3, 2026, at the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Patras in Ichthyoskala.

The primary goal is to collect school supplies, including bags, notebooks, pencils, and stationery, to support students from families facing economic and social difficulties. In addition to the collection drive, the venue will host various activities for children and parents, such as a handmade goods bazaar, a puppet show, experiential workshops, and creative activities like face painting and bubble shows.

Specific programming includes a workshop for parents and educators titled ‘The Invisible Weights of the School Bag,’ which addresses issues such as anxiety, poverty, and social inequality. Other activities include a workshop on preparing nutritious school snacks.
