Patras hosts scientific seminar on cancer research and immunotherapy

The scientific seminar ‘Hunting Chimeras – From Myth to Reality’ was held on September 30 at the Mercure Patras Astir in Patras, Greece. Organized by Patrinorama HELLENIC and the Panhellenic Association of Women ‘Kallipateira’, the event focused on modern developments in cancer treatment, specifically exploring research, immunotherapy, and cell therapies.

A central figure of the seminar was Dr. Maria Themeli, MD, PhD, an Associate Professor of Hematology at Amsterdam UMC, who presented significant advancements in the fields of cell therapy and immunotherapy. Dr. Themeli received an honorary award for her scientific contributions, presented by Patras Mayor Kostas Peletidis and Deputy Regional Governor of Western Greece Charalambos Bonanos.

Other notable participants included Professor Emeritus Georgios Panagiotakis, former Rector of the University of Patras, and Professor of Hematology Alexandros Spyridonidis. The event was attended by representatives from scientific, academic, and institutional sectors, concluding with a musical performance by the Youth Orchestra Patras.
