Patras Mayor announces tender for Apollon Theatre restoration

Patras Mayor Kostas Peletidis has welcomed the Ministry of Culture's announcement of a tender for the restoration of the historic Apollon Theatre and the Building of Word and Art. The project has a budget of €20.8 million.

Peletidis noted that the initiative is the result of systematic efforts by the municipal administration dating back to 2015. He clarified that the project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund and the Ministry of Culture through the ‘Western Greece 2021–2027’ program, rather than being a direct grant from the Ministry to the Municipality.

The Mayor emphasized that the restoration of both buildings is intended to create a unified cultural hub in the heart of Patras. He also urged that political credit should not be claimed solely for the announcement, highlighting that the programmatic agreement was signed six years ago.
