Patra police arrest criminal gang members for business extortion
Greek police have dismantled a criminal group involved in the intimidation and extortion of business owners in the Achaia and Ilia regions. The operation led to the arrest of a 27-year-old primary suspect, who was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants, and two accomplices.
The main suspect was apprehended at a food establishment in Perivola, Patra, alongside an accomplice; both reportedly resisted arrest. A third individual was arrested at his residence for allegedly harboring the fugitive in a settlement in Aetolia-Acarnania to evade authorities.
During the coordinated raids, which included searches of residences, a hideout, a motorcycle, and a car, police seized a significant arsenal. Items confiscated include a pistol with 14 rounds, a blank-firing pistol, a pen-style pistol, and 196 rounds of ammunition, as well as cash, mobile phones, and handwritten notes. The primary suspect faces serious charges, including organized crime, intentional grievous bodily harm, illegal weapons possession, and violence against officials.
