Patras students protest lack of lighting in nursing laboratory
Students at the 7th EPAL in Patras, specializing in Nursing Assistants, have issued a public complaint regarding unacceptable teaching conditions. For seven months, the laboratory used for their practical training has been without lighting due to a technical fault.
As a result, students are unable to perform mandatory practical exercises required by the Ministry of Education curriculum, such as nursing interventions and using medical models. Instead, they are forced to conduct theoretical lessons at desks, often relying on their mobile phone flashlights to see in the dark.
The students noted that the Laboratory Center has already submitted a formal written report to the Municipality of Patras, which is responsible for school building maintenance under Law 3852/2010. Despite this, no technician has arrived to repair the fault. The graduating class is calling for immediate intervention from the Achaia Secondary Education Directorate and the municipal school committee to either repair the lighting or relocate the classes to a suitable, illuminated space before their upcoming exams.
