Patrasak Mai Phra Netr clarifies Bangkok council voting mishap

During a Bangkok Metropolitan Council meeting on 31 July 2023, member Patrasak Mai Phra Netr of the People’s Party was accused of casting a vote on behalf of another councillor. Patrasak explained that he mistakenly pressed the wrong voting machine because the machine assigned to Councillor Siram Prakajit was malfunctioning and the two seats had been moved next to each other. In the rush to vote, he inadvertently hit Siram’s device, leading to the confusion.

Patrasak emphasized that no proxy voting was intended, apologized for the error, and confirmed that the council chair ordered a verification and a re‑vote to correct the record.
