Patrícia Costa and Fernanda Fialho pass away in Brazil

Two prominent figures in Brazilian social and cultural circles have passed away.

Patrícia Costa, the muse of the Inocentes de Belford Roxo samba school, died at age 45. She had been undergoing treatment for cervical cancer since late 2025 and was reportedly under palliative care recently. Costa was a well-known figure in the Rio de Janeiro Carnival community, having previously participated with major groups such as Beija-Flor and Imperatriz Leopoldinense.

Fernanda Fialho, a 29-year-old influencer, writer, and speaker, has also died. Fialho was widely recognized for her work through the “Para que tabu” profile, where she shared her experiences with autism and neurodivergence to combat social stigmas. An author of three books, she focused on the challenges of late diagnosis and mental health. She leaves behind a four-year-old daughter.
