Patreon announces 30 new features to improve creator discovery

Patreon has announced a roadmap featuring approximately 30 new tools and features designed to improve creator discovery and community building. The announcement follows recent mass layoffs at the company.

CEO Jack Conte stated that the current state of the internet has failed creators by prioritizing fleeting engagement and short-term attention over genuine community and sustainable businesses. To address discovery, Patreon is revamping its recommendation system to provide more visibility to smaller creators.

Key upcoming features include ‘Clips’ for iOS, which allows creators to turn videos into bite-sized, shareable content. These can be shared on external platforms like TikTok and Instagram or posted directly to Patreon using a new short-form format called ‘Quips’. Other tools currently in testing include suggested video previews and the ability to quote snippets from long-form written posts to drive engagement.
