Patreon blocks AI training bots with Cloudflare partnership
Patreon announced that it is working with Cloudflare to stop AI‑training crawlers from scraping the platform’s content. The new technical block targets only bots that collect data for machine‑learning models while still allowing search‑engine crawlers that drive traffic to creators.
Internal tests showed weekly attempts by such AI bots fell from several thousand to zero after the measure was deployed. Patreon says the move gives creators control over whether their work is used to train artificial‑intelligence systems, complementing its existing pay‑wall protections for paid content.
