Patriarch Porfirije leads liturgy and receives new clergy
Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church has conducted several religious services and official receptions in late August 2026.
On August 23, the Patriarch served the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Kumodraž. During his sermon, he addressed the spiritual nature of human existence, emphasizing that true perfection and fulfillment are found through communion with God. He used the biblical parable of the rich young man to discuss the relationship between material possessions and spiritual devotion, noting that all gifts are divine provisions intended to be shared with others.
Previously, on August 21, Patriarch Porfirije hosted newly ordained clergy from the Belgrade-Karlovci Archdiocese at the Patriarchal Court in Belgrade. During the reception, he provided spiritual guidance to the new priests and deacons, reminding them of the responsibility and reverence required for their service. The event concluded with the presentation of episcopal charters and liturgical books to the new members of the clergy.
