The Patriarch of Alexandria, Theodore II, met with members of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy at the Holy Patriarchal Monastery of Saint George in Old Cairo on September 13. The assembly included thirty representatives from various nations, including Greece, Egypt, Romania, Albania, Bulgaria, and Jordan.

During the gathering, Patriarch Theodore II issued a call for peace, reconciliation, and brotherhood among nations. He highlighted the importance of shared biblical heritage, specifically mentioning the ‘Holy Family Trail’ in Egypt and initiatives in Jordan related to the 2,000-year anniversary of the Baptism of Christ in the Jordan River.

The Patriarch also commended the Hashemite Custodianship of Islamic and Christian Holy Sites in Jerusalem as a vital guarantee for preserving the spiritual and cultural identity of the Holy City. The delegation was led by the General Secretary of the Assembly, Maxim Charakopoulos, and included Ioan Vulpescu, President of the General Assembly of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy.
