Patrice Beaumelle considered for Ghana Black Stars coaching role

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is considering Patrice Beaumelle as a candidate for the vacant head coach position of the Black Stars. The search for a permanent successor follows the expiration of Carlos Queiroz’s short-term contract.

Beaumelle, a French coach with significant experience in African football, previously managed the national teams of Ivory Coast, Zambia, and Angola. He was notably part of the Ivory Coast technical team during their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations victory. While Desmond Ofei is also considered a leading candidate, the GFA is evaluating multiple options to stabilize the team.

The appointment is critical as Ghana prepares for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, where they have been drawn in Group C with Ivory Coast, The Gambia, and Somalia. The GFA faces pressure to finalize a decision quickly, as qualifiers are set to resume next month following the team's failure to qualify for the 2025 tournament in Morocco.
