Patricio Baigorrotegui elected president of Ferro Carril Oeste

Patricio Baigorrotegui has been elected as the new president of Ferro Carril Oeste following a decisive victory by the opposition list, ‘Somos Ferro’. In the elections held on September 27, 2026, the ‘Somos Ferro’ group secured 2,072 votes (60.18%), significantly outpacing the incumbent ‘Identidad Verdolaga’ list, which received 1,110 votes (32.23%). A third group, ‘Ferro en Acción’, obtained 254 votes.

A total of 3,443 members participated in the vote, representing 43% of the club's registry. The election results end a long period of hegemony by the previous administration. Baigorrotegui, supported by Vice Presidents Darío Silva and Alejandro López Mieres, stated that his administration will focus on long-term planning, reducing current liabilities, and refinancing short-term debt.

World Cup winner Marcos Acuña was among those present to cast a vote. Following the announcement, Baigorrotegui emphasized the need for club unity and an orderly transition to begin implementing the new administration's projects.
