Patrick Brown Runs for Third Term as Brampton Mayor
Patrick Brown has filed his nomination papers at Brampton City Hall and announced his bid for a third consecutive term as mayor of Brampton. He will face seven other candidates in the municipal election scheduled for Oct. 26, with the candidate registration deadline on Aug. 21.
Brown said his campaign will continue to prioritize public safety and to push forward major infrastructure projects, including the construction of Brampton’s second hospital and the extension of the Hazel McCallion Light Rail Transit line. He highlighted the progress made on these initiatives while noting that more work remains.
Brown’s political résumé includes serving at municipal, provincial and federal levels, leading the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party until his 2018 resignation amid sexual‑misconduct allegations, which he has denied. He later ran for the federal Conservative Party leadership but was disqualified over alleged Canada Elections Act financing breaches. The Office of the Commissioner of Canada Elections has closed the file on the matter without further action.
