Patrick Bruel assault case heats up after Brigitte Lahaie comments

French singer Patrick Bruel is under criminal investigation after roughly thirty women filed complaints alleging rape, attempted rape, sexual aggression and harassment, some of whom were minors at the time of the alleged incidents. Bruel was placed in police custody on 8 June and formally charged two days later.

During a appearance on the talk show Jordan De Luxe, former adult‑film actress and commentator Brigitte Lahaie said she knows women who have slept with Bruel but never filed a complaint, adding, “I think some women who filed complaints for abuse 20 years later really think they were abused.” She also described Bruel as “a bit of a queutard” and suggested that many accusations stem from a broader belief that “the man is fundamentally violent.” Lahaie’s remarks sparked backlash, with other public figures expressing support for the victims and condemning the alleged conduct.
