Patrick Bruel charged with new rape complaint in France
A new complaint of rape was filed on 24 June with the prosecutor’s office in Nanterre, accusing French singer‑actor Patrick Bruel of sexually assaulting a former 16‑year‑old model in Île‑de‑France during the early 2000s. The allegation is described as non‑prescribed, meaning it is not barred by the statute of limitations.
The case adds to several other investigations already open against Bruel. He has previously been placed under formal investigation for multiple offenses, including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and harassment, covering incidents reported between 2008 and 2019 in various French locales and abroad. Bruel’s lawyers continue to deny all accusations, stating that the singer will present his defence before the judges. The prosecutor must now decide whether to merge the new complaint with the existing dossiers and what further investigative steps are required.
