Patrick Bruel faces calls to cancel tour amid sexual assault allegations

French singer Patrick Bruel is facing intense scrutiny and calls for his upcoming 35-date autumn tour to be canceled following numerous allegations of sexual violence. Bruel has been placed under formal investigation in four cases involving rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, or sexual harassment, with approximately 32 complaints filed against him involving incidents reported between 1991 and 2019.

Several French mayors have publicly voiced their opposition to hosting the singer. The mayor of Chartres, Ladislas Vergne, stated it is “out of the question” for Bruel to perform in his city, noting that no formal contract has been signed with the venue. Similarly, the mayors of Laval, Brest, Tours, and Caen have expressed concerns or called for the tour's cancellation, emphasizing the need to respect the voices of the victims.

David Pelicot, son of Gisèle Pelicot, has also criticized the industry's silence regarding the accusations. Despite the legal proceedings and local opposition, Bruel intends to proceed with his tour, which is scheduled to begin on October 2, 2026, to celebrate the 35th anniversary of his album ‘Alors regarde’.
