Patrick Bruel released under travel ban amid sexual assault investigation
Patrick Bruel, the 67‑year‑old French singer‑actor, was released after 48 hours of police custody on 10 June 2026. He remains under judicial control, posted a €500,000 bail, is prohibited from leaving France and from contacting alleged victims, and must not visit massage salons. The investigation concerns four separate cases of alleged rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and harassment dating from 2008‑2019.
At the same time, Bruel gave media remarks about the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup, saying he will not boycott the tournament and recalling his lifelong passion for football. He described himself as “excessive in everything, including football” and expressed optimism that the event will unite people as past editions have.
