Patrick Chan Appointed President of Baltic Container Terminal in Gdynia

Effective 1 August, Patrick Chan will take over as president of Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Gdynia, succeeding Wojciech Szymulewicz, who led the terminal since 2019. Chan, a long‑time BCT employee since 2006 and former head of ICTSI’s Adriatic Gate Container Terminal in Croatia, joins the role after serving in various managerial positions within the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) group.

The leadership change coincides with the completion of major upgrades at the terminal, including the reconstruction of the Helskie Quay to accommodate larger vessels, the arrival of two new shore‑mounted cranes in June, and the recent docking of the 400‑metre container ship MSC Venice – the largest vessel to call at the Port of Gdynia. ICTSI, one of the world’s largest container‑terminal operators active in 19 countries, extended its contract in Gdynia for another 30 years in 2022 and is also interested in participating in the planned External Port project, a public‑private partnership to build a deep‑water terminal with a capacity of about 2.5 million TEU per year.
