Patrick Mahomes cleared for training camp as Chiefs gear up for 2026 season

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to receive full medical clearance this week and will join the Kansas City Chiefs’ training camp on Friday. After tearing his ACL and LCL in Week 15 of the 2025 season and undergoing surgery in December, Mahomes has been participating in individual drills, 7‑on‑7 work and non‑contact activities while being held out of full‑team drills.

Chiefs coaches plan to manage his workload as he faces defenders for the first time since his injury. He will compete for reps with quarterbacks Justin Fields, Chris Oladokun and rookie Garrett Nussmeier as Kansas City prepares for the 2026 campaign.
