Patrick Mahomes cleared to start Chiefs season opener

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is cleared to start the season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday night. The decision comes nine months after Mahomes suffered tears to both his ACL and LCL during a game against the Los Angeles Chargers in December.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed that Mahomes is expected to play, noting that while he may wear a brace, his movement appears normal. Mahomes sat out the preseason as a precaution but has participated in all training camp practices since being cleared for full activity in late July.

Teammate Travis Kelce praised Mahomes’ determination during his rehabilitation process, stating that the quarterback’s mentality shifted immediately following surgery. Former teammate Tyreek Hill also reacted positively to the news of Mahomes' return to the field.
