Patrick Mahomes projected as top fantasy quarterback for 2026 despite recent injury

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a two‑time MVP and three‑time Super Bowl champion, is ranked 14th overall among 2026 fantasy football quarterbacks by ESPN. The drop reflects his recent torn ACL and LCL, which sidelined him for the final three games of the 2025 season after posting 3,587 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. Prior to the injury, Mahomes was a fantasy‑QB6. Analysts note that a healthy Mahomes could return to a top‑three fantasy slot, especially with the Chiefs’ new running back Kenneth Walker III and the continued presence of star tight end Travis Kelce. The Chiefs also hope wide receiver Rashee Rice, after missing games due to suspension and concussion, will stay healthy to bolster the passing attack.

If Mahomes remains injury‑free, his floor is projected around a fantasy‑QB15, with upside to reach a top‑QB3, according to the evaluation.
