Patrick Mahomes returns to NFL action and expands restaurant venture

Patrick Mahomes has made a successful return to the NFL following a nine-month absence due to a severe injury. During his comeback game at Arrowhead Stadium, the quarterback led the Kansas City Chiefs to a decisive victory, completing over 65% of his passes and accumulating more than 250 passing yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions.

Alongside his athletic return, Mahomes and teammate Travis Kelce are expanding their culinary venture, 1587 Prime. Located in the Loews Kansas City Hotel, the steakhouse is introducing new menu items and a Sunday brunch service to coincide with the start of the football season.

However, the restaurant faces ongoing legal challenges. A footwear company, 1587 Sneakers, has filed a federal lawsuit against Kelce, Mahomes, and their associated entities, alleging trademark issues regarding the use of the name ‘1587’. The name was chosen to represent the jersey numbers of the two founders: Mahomes (15) and Kelce (87).
