Patrick Soon-Shiong interested in potential Los Angeles Dodgers sale

Patrick Soon-Shiong, owner of the Los Angeles Times, has expressed interest in leading an investment group to purchase the Los Angeles Dodgers should the team be put up for sale. While representatives for Mark Walter and Dodgers president Stan Kasten stated that the team is not currently for sale, potential bidders are closely monitoring the situation.

Speculation regarding a sale follows a cash crunch for Walter, reportedly triggered by a federal investigation into insurance firms controlled by his companies. Industry sources suggest the Dodgers could command a valuation between $10 billion and $13 billion, which would significantly exceed the current record for a Major League Baseball team.

Soon-Shiong was previously a runner-up in the 2012 bidding process for the team, alongside hedge fund manager Steve Cohen. His attorney, Chuck Kenworthy, noted that while no discussions have taken place with Walter, Soon-Shiong remains open to talks if the opportunity arises.
